The Holiday season should be a
time of giving and a time of hope. For those in
our community who are struggling, it can be a
time of hopelessness and despair.

The OSL Adopt-a-Family program allows you, your family, or your company to personally make a difference for a needy family during Thanksgiving
and/or Christmas. OSL offers a matching program whereby
members of the community, families, businesses,
religious groups, League members and other
organizations sponsor low-income families that
best meet their ability to give. Sponsors are
given a list of foods that provide not only the
holiday dinner but "well-balanced"
breakfast and lunch food items to help support
families while their children are on holiday
break from school.
Christmas sponsors receive a
"Wish List" from their family,
identifying favorite colors, sizes and specific
needs. Food lists and Wish lists for each family are provided to sponsors in mid-October.
A central distribution center serves for
both Thanksgiving and Christmas, however, home
deliveries are made to seniors and those with
disabilities. Volunteers play a big role
in the "Adopt-a-Family" program. Not
only as sponsors but as workers helping at the
distribution center. Their support is needed to
lay tarps, pack food boxes, unload deliveries and
help families load their cars. It's a
rewarding experience for everyone.
Individuals, families,
businesses, organizations, churches, and other
groups can sponsor in a variety of ways. Sponsors
can adopt a family for Thanksgiving or Christmas,
or both. These sponsors provide a food basket for
Thanksgiving and food and gifts for Christmas.
Families of all sizes are available, to match a
sponsor's ability to give. Sponsors can also send a check
and let Overlake Service League shop for them, provide gift
certificates, or send a donation.
